Starting the baby's room...

As you can see, this room is slowly transforming into the baby's room. Mae Ellen bought some nice wood frames for the animal pictures that we bought at the Park Ave Festival in Rochester. (If you look at the photo section you'll see the pictures from our Family Picnic in Rochester from earlier this month).

The paint has also been picked out. It's a light green which should go well with the Jungle-themed room .

Cedar toy chest

This has been my weekend project for the past month. It is almost done, it needs a top, hardware and stain. The legs will be trimmed to about 2". This is made from poplar wood and has a cedar bottom. There are no nails or screws, just joints and glue.

Oh the places you'll go...

Mae Ellen and I recorded ourselves reading "Oh the places you'll go." by Dr. Seuss.

Then we play back the recording every night using the fetal headphones.

Talking to the baby

As Mae Ellen posted, we play the baby music and talk to him every night using this from BebeSounds.

Sounds ridiculous right?

Its actually really cool and we can tell he hears us because he is very active when play him music and read to him. They say this will help him sleep better when he is born because our voices and classical music will remind him of the womb and he'll feel safe... awwww.

Week #24

Our last doctor's appointment went well. The doctor said that everything was right on track and looking good. We got to hear the heartbeat again, and it is much louder this time since he has gotten bigger. He is a little over a pound approximately, but somehow one pound amounts to a much bigger belly :)
Our next appointment is in early September when I get to take the fun glucose test.

Meanwhile, Michael has been very busy working on making a toy chest for the baby's room. I think now that he can see how big I'm getting that he is beginning to realize that it won't be much longer before the baby is here.

New Baby Furniture

We had a marathon day of baby shopping... 10am-5pm! It was tiring, but really fun since we crossed so many thing off our todo list. Here's what we got for our little guy:
Now I just need to start painting!

Mango Mambo

The baby is moving about a lot more these days. It is almost like he is doing a little dance in there. I guess he is just trying to get comfortable. It is kind of funny because now I can actually see my clothes move when he moves. Thank goodness he doesn't do that much at work. People might get a little freaked out. He mostly reserves that for bedtime though.
He is about the size of a mango this week, weighing a little over a pound and about 11 inches long, or at least that is what my weekly email update tells me. I can definitely believe it though because I know I've grown a lot more in the last couple of weeks.
I'll let Michael provide the latest belly size update, and maybe we will post some pictures too.
Tomorrow morning we have another doctor's appointment, so we may have some more updates then.
